February 12, 2013, San Francisco, CA – The Gay & Lesbian Elder Housing (GLEH) in Los Angeles partnered with Give by Cell to implement its Mobile Pledge fundraising platform and Screencasting for their first annual, "The Green Room: A Golden Globes Viewing Gala" on January 13 at the historic Jim Henson Studios. The event benefited GLEH's Comprehensive Housing Care Program, a nationally recognized aging in place model for LGBT seniors.
The organization honored Golden Globe nominee, Julie Newmar, with a Lifetime Achievement Award and included a screening of the 70th Annual Golden Globes. Throughout the evening, supporters pledged $8,400 via text message donations.
Using Give by Cell's Mobile Pledge service, supporters could text "GLEH," the dollar amount they pledged to donate, and their name to 56512, and a representative from Gay& Lesbian Elder Housing would call supporters to collect the funds. For more information about Mobile Pledge, please click here.
