See How First Tee of the Inland Empire Raises Money

When First Tee of the Inland Empire (FTIE) needed to raise money, they turned to a mobile solution from Give by Cell.

This was the easiest thing I have done in a long time: to watch a three-minute demo over a Zoom call with the owner and two amazing support team members. I was able to sign up, pay, and be processed in less than 30 minutes,” said Executive Director Pamela Tyler.

Pamela got the idea from watching major fundraisers on TV. She noticed at the bottom of the screen that charities would include a shortcode of six numbers to text to donate.

What strikes me is it meets the needs of millennials and younger donors who do everything by their smartphones. You can text a number to donate to First Tee in less than one minute.

With a mission to help kids play more golf, the LPGA, the Masters Tournament, the PGA of America, the PGA TOUR, and the USGA formed a partnership in 1997 to bring affordable junior golf programs to communities that did not have them--especially in economically disadvantaged areas.

FTIE is one of 150 chapters in the country that reach 3.4 million kids annually. While chapter events are on hold, participants have been attending First Tee Life Skills Experience classes online.

FTIE promoted their keyword and shortcode through social media on May 5, 2020 for the #GivingTuesdayNow campaign.
