Lehigh University and Lafayette College Utilize Mobile Donations in Alumni Challenge.
Two Pennsylvania schools battled it out to see who could score the most donations through traditional donations and text-message giving.
Lehigh University and Lafayette College competed against one another in their second annual 19-day giving challenge. Each school invited students, staff, faculty and alumni to donate in hopes of acquiring the most donations by their annual football game. Both schools chose to use Give by Cell’s cutting edge technology and to be able to accept text message donations in an alumni challenge.
“Give by Cell is a tremendous asset, it engages students and faculty. For us, it is also about donor acquisition. It is a new and exciting way for our donors to give back to the university,” said Senior Associate Director of Alumni Relations, Chad Davis.
Davis and his team are currently looking into other ways to utilize Give by Cell. The schools also created a mobile website, chronicling their mobile fundraising race using graphics and “point totals by decade,” collecting donor data about graduation date to encourage the alumni challenge.

They also created mobile apps for Android and iPhone Smartphone users. This allowed even easier access for students and alumni to donate and watch the fundraising race from their Smartphone.
